Chester's Fort

This place really gives you a sense of how impressive the Roman Empire was. It's a huge site. There would have been around 500 soldiers stationed here. The fort was situated in the middle of the wall itself just next to where the wall crossed the river Tyne. The picture is of the remains of the bathhouse, which was outside the fort walls. It's a lovely place and I'm sunning myself in the grounds with a cup of tea and a bit of lunch. Tim, I think you can cut your grass in safety.

Cheers GD... the grass is cut... well most of it as the mower expired so there's a delayed completion. Meanwhile I'll get out in the sunshine on me bike while I decide whether to repair it this week/month or next.

I notice this Friday morning that the band of rain running SE to NW & moving NW up the UK seems to be all moving towards your current location & I read that you are again in the thick of it! As you head further North we'll look forward to some stonking weather here in the Midlands!
